Over 25 years ago, I sat down and put into words an idea of a children’s book inspired from an elementary school project that my son Ryan had in 3rd grade. 

We worked on this amazing project together, that caught the attention of many around the world.

 

At that time, I created hand-made teddy bears, which were sold nationwide (Breland Bears, of course).  I created “Travis - The Traveling Bear”. 

​

Travis became very popular, and during the 1999-2000 school year, he traveled to 34 destinations in 9 months, from September to June.

 

Throughout Travis's global journey, he visited Japan, Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, South Africa, Germany, Canada and many states within the United States.  Travis safely arrived home with many stories to share!

Now, over 25 years later, I have made contact with many of those from around the world who shared in Travis’ journey so long ago — including children from that time who are now adults!

  Travis and his adventures are still remembered, even after so many years!

Donna P. Breland first wrote Travis The Traveling Bear in 2001 as a keepsake to celebrate Travis’s remarkable journey and to ensure his special adventure would never be forgotten.

In August 2023, Travis the Traveling Bear became a published educational children’s book, now shared with families around the world.

This inspiring story reminds readers of all ages that dedication, determination, and belief in yourself can turn dreams into reality.
